Appendix D: BREW 2.0

Introduction

The future is here! Well, sort of. At the BREW 2002 Developers Conference in San Diego, Qualcomm announced the release of BREW 2.0. The SDK is freely available on Qualcomm's web site and will soon launch on handsets worldwide. Qualcomm also displayed some impressive prototype hardware that natively incorporates the features of BREW 2.0, not to mention the sneak preview of technologies to be incorporated in further revisions. This appendix discusses the major features of BREW 2.0.
