Introduction
Until this appendix, we have focused solely on the original version of BREW, known as BREW 1.0. Although there have been a few slight revisions to BREW 1.0, the next major upgrade is BREW 1.1. This new version of BREW is shipping on most new handsets in the U.S., including the Motorola T720 and Toshiba/Audiovox CDM 9500. BREW 1.1 adds many brand new interfaces, as well as additional functionality to the existing ones that we are now familiar with. Qualcomm has also improved the tools and included a few new ones that help smooth out the development process and provide support for the new features added to the API. This appendix discusses some of the major enhancements of BREW 1.1, as well as the new tools and features present.
